Sattlerhof’s highest vineyard, Ried Kapellenweingarten, sits at 550m altitude and the 2020 vintage shows the precision and freshness that define Südsteiermark and put the region on the map for world class sauvignon blanc. Produced in small quantities by one of the region’s most respected family estates from selectively hand-harvested grapes grown on gravel and conglomerate soils are fermented and aged in large, seasoned oak barrels, lending subtle texture without masking the purity of fruit. Aromas of ripe pear, Alpine herbs and yellow pepper mingle with hints of fennel and fine mint. The palate is long and focussed, with a crisp, mineral backbone and a touch of meadow herb lift.
