Anyday Rhone Case
Wines included
Massif d'Uchaux, Château Saint Estève 2018
This is made from a grenache and syrah blend, roughly 80:20, and no oak was used in the wine making. Full-flavoured, full-bodied and ripe tasting, yet dominated by rich fruit flavours, and excellent value for money. Please note that the wine has thrown a sediment so we advise decanting to enjoy it at its best.
Côtes-du-Rhône, Domaine Jaume 2021
Three generations of the Jaume family farm some 200 acres of vineyard in the village of Vinsobres. The climate here is influenced by Alpine foothills so that cooling breezes play on the vines, preserving fresh fruit flavours in the wines. Easy-drinking, yet full-flavoured and food friendly.
Château Saint Estève, Rondoletto, Côtes-du-Rhône 2021
The cinsault grape is the secret behind this attractively refreshing, light-tasting red Rhône with comparatively low alcohol. A little syrah then brings colour and fruit. Owner Marc Français serves this harmonious red to visitors at his Liszt recitals at the château!
Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge, Guigal 2020
The lockdown vintage was marked by fine weather with hardly a drop of rain and cool summer nights which allowed the crop to retain freshness. Guigal's syrah-dominated Rhône balances power with bright fruit flavours with a little spice.
Ventoux Les Traverses, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2022
Richly flavoured and fruity but always fresh red from the slopes of Mont Ventoux. Made from majority ripe grenache with syrah in support, it offers a spot-hitting and delicious palate of ripe red berries and a touch of spice.
Costières de Nîmes La Ciboise, Chapoutier 2022
From a stony plateau to the south of the Roman city of Nîmes. This is an exuberantly fruity grenache-syrah blend, rich and full-bodied with a touch of spice and a flavour of ripe plums.
